Have you been thinking about starting a blog, but don’t know where to start? Concerned about the costs, which theme to use, or what the heck a plug-in is? And those are just the technical details!
What about the actual writing? Will anyone read? Will they like it? Does my art matter?
The way you create art matters. Not just in the realm of importance, but with the actual physical matter of your ideas.
I want to help you bring your art and talent to life.
We each have a worldview and skill set that lends itself to serving others and solving problems. A personal website is the best way to share your gifts with other people around the world. But setting this up can be intimidating!
I consider myself a tech-savvy guy, but setting all this up was a little much for me. My fear kept me from launching this site for over a year, and even when I did, I started with mattragland.wordpress.com, instead of simply MattRagland.com.
I was afraid of the technical aspects, wasting money, and being a quitter.
Turns out the only thing I wasted was months of connecting with people in a place where I owned what was going on. Where I could build a community, share my story, and help you recognize the storylines of your life.
But there is still a gap in how you start a blog, then maintain and grow it over the first year. Many courses will handle just one of these tasks, with a 10 step program on starting up, or an entire class on growing your blog.
Let’s do both together next year. Here’s how…
This email course will be sent out in 24 parts, on the first and third Monday of the month. During January (startup month), the lessons will cover many of the technical details that scare so many people (myself included). We’ll go over which hosting service to use, essential plug-ins, email services, and other useful software services.
From February to December, the lessons will cover both technical hacks and best practices for honing the craft of writing.
